SHINE LIKE A DIAMOND, IN THE DARKNESS

For a long time I refused to wear black. I thought it is dull, it is ordinary, it is too safe, it lacks life.

But I proved myself wrong, by immersing myself completely into black.  Because black absorbs everything, it also perfects everything–every detail, every texture of the fabric, every shades.

Black empowers me, although sometimes I get overwhelmed by it. The way to dress black for me is to find a balanced and subtle point where I feel strong enough but not losing the feminine side of me.

The bomber jacket from Kenzo is my new darling this fall/winter. I never tried this silhouette before as it appeared too streetwear type for me. But this season I found it is a great piece to add a bit of casual, cool feeling, while not too flamboyant like those baseball bombers…

This black maxi slit dress from H&M Studio A/W 2017 has a surprisingly good quality. It’s shiny and soft, with a few details such as zippers on the sleeves. I also bought a white shirt from this collection which also has an impressive beautiful cutting.

FALL COLOURS: MIXING THAT PUMPKIN AND CINNAMON!

Summer is gone. But it doesn’t mean it’s time to go full black and white. There are still many optionality to dress colourfully for fall. Burgundy, mustard, brick red, olive green… you name it.

[vc_row][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-12 vc_col-xs-12″][vc_column_text]

I admit that I had a down time after discovering all Erdem x H&M pieces were sold out everywhere in Hong Kong and worldwide. Not sure if anyone like me has been so yearning for that flowery maxi dress to go with a leather jacket.

I finally managed to recover from the woe as I realised that fall is finally here! And there are so many colors that you can wear in this beautiful season. Burgundy, mustard, brick red, olive green, peony blue… you name it.

Pantone colour intelligence came out with the trendiest autumn colour palette for 2017. Some of them have really amazing names, such as Tawny Port, Golden Lime and Autumn Maple (see more here).

Personally I really love the neutral colors with a bit of cinnamon hues. The jumpsuit that I wore in the photo is from Zara’s last summer season. They are very easy to wear into fall and winter (so please don’t pack your summer clothes yet!). The jacket in vanilla colour helps to balance out the slightly grey-ish tone of the jumpsuit, and adding a bit of more details. How do you guys making the transition from your summer wardrobe pieces into fall? I’d love to hear your tips too!

FALL WORK OUTFIT IN CHECKED TROUSERS

For those that followed my Instagram long enough would know that I had been resisting this trend for a while, as the grey checks simply make everyone look old, stiff, and indifferent. However…

[vc_row][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-12 vc_col-xs-12″][vc_column_text]

One of the key fashion trends this fall is the grey checked suits, perhaps confirmed by Raf Simon’s debut at Calvin Klein. For those that followed my Instagram long enough would know that I had been resisting this trend for a while, as the grey checks simply make everyone look old, stiff, and indifferent. It simply goes against what fashion is trying to deliver: innovative and independent voice.

Having said that, I figured it is interesting to wear the checks in certain circumstances. For instance, they make a perfect work outfit by simply adding some details such as unique cutting and different color tones into the monotonous design.

I chose a pair of checked trousers from Zara with slightly flared design at the bottom. The cropped design make them a good match for boots and high heels.

MY FAVORITE DENIM COLLECTION OF THIS SUMMER

It goes without saying that denim is THE summer essential for everyone. I used to wear denim shorts almost every the other day, but recently I realized that jeans can make your outfit look even more chic when it gets mixed and matched with cropped top, shirt/t-shirt.

My favorite piece this summer is the two-tone cropped flare jeans, which I love because of the fit. The hi-rise design makes them flattering on my figure and makes my legs look longer. It also helps to hide my wide hips and give a more balanced look. I found it perfectly match with almost every single piece of my cropped tops and shirts.

THE ULTIMATE STRIPED SHIRT

I never really consider myself as a minimalist as deep inside I know how fickle I am about colours. However there is this one day when I open my wardrobe, it really spooked me to see how many striped shirts I own.

I never really consider myself as a minimalist as deep inside I know how fickle I am about colours. However there is this one day when I open my wardrobe, it really spooked me to see how many striped shirts I own. This summer, consciously and unconsciously, I bought 5 striped shirts (or even more!), of which two were exactly the same Zara shirt–I transformed one of them to make it able to be worn backwards (see this instagram post).

[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ item=”mediaGrid_Default” grid_id=”vc_gid:1509372531419-a4df8c5f-26a2-3″ include=”585,586″][vc_column_text]

With a few trial and errors, I’ve so far identified my favourite one so far which is this off-white blue striped shirt that has a wide neck and waist tie, making it such a versatile piece that goes with simple dresses, shorts and pants.

On thing I liked about this off-shoulder neckline is that it is so playful that you can style with a spagheti shirt, a bold choker or a long dress to add layers. I went for the last option simply because the burgundy color and the blue stripes make the dress a perfect color match.

The details of the sleeves–cute red button and extra-long sleeves with a firm finish are the killer part.

I also tried to wear it with a pair of wide-leg pants to give it a less feminine look. The sophistication of the shirt is perfectly neutralised by the simple silhouette of the pants.
